Greater Bluefield Jaycees and Princeton Jaycees Work Project Together In Flood Torn McDowell County

Our "Back To School Shopping Tour" will be August 23, 2001 at 7:00 PM to be held at the K-Mart in Big Four, WV (near Kimball).  This location is approximately 25 miles North of Bluefield on US Route 52.  This year, members of the Princeton Jaycees will be joining us in this worthwhile effort.

This year, we will be taking our show on the road to one of the harder hit areas by the July 2001 floods.  Currently we will be able to take 17 needy kids (we hope for 20 if funding can be found)  shopping for new school clothes and supplies.  We will need at least 25 Jaycees and Friends to make this project a success.  Each child will be given $100.00 to shop with and will require a Jaycee to assist with the process.   Pizza and sodas will be supplied after the project for everyone.

People interested in going will be assembling in the CVS Pharmacy parking lot in Brushfork, WV with the idea of carpooling to the project site.  The caravan of cars needs to leave no later than 6:00 PM in order to get to the K-Mart around 7:00 PM which is when registration will start and shopping assignments will be given shortly thereafter.

We look forward to this project being a big success as we try to bring positive change to some fine people facing tough times due to flooding.  This project also hopes to provide the children with skills that they will carry with them for a lifetime as they learn to shop for items themselves and budget out a specific amount of money.

Come Join Us!  And check back here for pictures from the project!
